Using Weebly and Wix to Create Your EPK

What good is having a band if nobody hears your music? How can you get your music out to the masses while informing folks about concerts, how to buy your merchandise, and how you and your buddies met and started your group?

By creating an Electronic Press Kit, you can give your fans a little information about yourself while supplying the media with press releases, professional photos to use in print articles, and background information needed to interview you.

In this lesson, we will see some professional EPK's, get some advice about how to design one on our own, then create a website that has a ton of info in it. If you have looked at the Press Release page and know what you want on your site, then watch the video below and start creating your masterpiece. If not, check out that page first.

 

One last thing before you begin. Remember the rules of Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity (CRAP) when designing your site.

1. All fonts should be legible and backgrounds should contrast well.

2. All  pages should have a similar look and feel to them with repeating elements. 

3. Alignment should be consistent throughout

4. Pics and captions should be near each other and information should be "chunked" so that it is easy to read. I would not go more than 2 paragraphs without providing a picture or video. Also, choose to add links instead of huge blocks of text.
